A House of Representatives impromptu board yesterday set out to issue a capture warrant against the director of Globacom Nigeria, Chief Mike Adenuga for neglecting to respect its solicitations.
The board, which is examining exercises of broadcast communications organizations, said it had summoned Adenuga in the wake of influencing a few endeavors to have him to show up before it were not fruitful.
The administrator of the council, Rep Ahmed Abu (APC, Niger) said Adenuga's activity was an attack against the lawmaking body, saying he should seem to clear issues identified with monetary commitments by his organization.
Abu said records before the board demonstrated that Globacom Nigeria owes the Federal Government over N16.7 billion.
He asked both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission (ICPC) to pursue the Glo boss for holding Nigeria's cash.
"A circumstance where the parliament will welcome an office or association and after that it won't come, at that point we're going no place. A few people feel they're too huge; that they're exempt from the laws that apply to everyone else. I'm making reference to Mr Mike Adenuga, the director of Glo.
"The measure of insolence he has for the parliament is inadmissible. Indeed, he's an extremely rich person, however that doesn't mean anything. Anyone can be a very rich person in the correct air," he said.
An individual from the board, Abdulrahman Shuaibu (APC, Adamawa) moved that the board should approach the House to issue a capture warrant against Adenuga, which was bolstered by all individuals.
Shuaibu stated, "We summoned him, however he neglected to show up. I need to move that in perspective of that, we issue a capture warrant against him for the IGP to deliver him on February 15 by 12 twelve."
Abu decided that "The council therefore settle that a capture warrant be issued against the director of Globacom." The board would need to approach Speaker Yakubu Dogara to sign the capture warrant for it to be affected.
Our journalist later accumulated that there was a misunderstanding as a Glo agent that was appointed to go to the gathering went to the House standing board of trustees on media communications rather than the impromptu panel.
When he later found that he was really to show up before the specially appointed board, he raced to the scene, yet the gathering had finished.
A Glo source revealed to Daily Trust that they have spoke to the board to reevaluate its choice as the non-appearance before it yesterday was not think.
